Projects
Group chats in a project with shared instructions and a brain. Projects are personal and only visible to you.
A project groups chats on one topic, for example every chat about the Holzwerk Brunner GmbH mandate. The project's instructions and brain apply to every chat in it, so you do not have to explain the context again each time.
Create a project
Create the project
In the sidebar, click the plus sign New project next to Projects. The new project's page opens.
Enter a name and instructions
Under Name, replace the provisional name, for example with "Mandate Holzwerk Brunner". Under Instructions, describe what should apply to every chat in the project:
You support the fiduciary team at Kieselmatt Treuhand AG on the Holzwerk Brunner GmbH mandate. Answer in English and keep it short. For fees, refer to the Fee Schedule 2026.
Choose a brain
Under Brain, choose the brain the chats should answer from, or No Brain. The list only shows brains you are allowed to read.
Save
Click Save project.
Start the first chat
Click New chat in project at the top.
What a project does
- Instructions: they are sent to the model with every message in every chat in the project. When you change them, the new version applies from the next message, in existing chats too.
- Brain: the project's brain is included in every chat in the project, on top of the brains you choose in the chat itself, provided you are allowed to read it.
- Order: in the sidebar the chats sit under the project, not in the time groups such as Today or Older.
Move chats into a project
You can also move existing chats into a project:
- In the sidebar: hover over the chat, open Chat options (three dots), then Add to project, and choose the project.
- In the chat: click Project in the bar under the message box and pick the project under Move to project. The chip appears as soon as you have at least one project.
No project takes a chat out again. From the next message, the project's instructions and brain no longer apply.
Rename and delete
Open Project options (three dots) next to the project in the sidebar or at the top of the project page:
- Rename opens the Rename project window.
- Delete asks Delete project? and, once you confirm, removes the project with its instructions.
Projects are personal
A project belongs to you alone. Nobody else in the workspace sees it, not even an admin.

When you share a chat from a project, you share only the chat, not the project or its instructions. If a colleague makes a copy, it sits outside any project. How sharing works is explained in Sharing and finding chats. If instructions should apply to the whole team, build an agent.
Best practices
- Create one project per mandate or recurring task, such as "Annual accounts 2026".
- Put the role, language and the form you want into the instructions. Specialist knowledge and documents belong in a brain.
- Keep the instructions short. They are sent with every message and count towards the size of every request.
- If colleagues need the same instructions, an agent is a better fit than a project.
