Google Drive

Connect Google Drive to use selected files in chat or import them into a brain, without Custodos seeing the rest of your Drive.

Google Drive brings Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs and Office files into Custodos. Custodos only sees the files you pick in Google's file dialog, and it only reads them.

This is deliberate: Custodos gets no access to your whole Drive. The downside is that the model, too, only finds files you have picked before.

Connecting Google Drive

Open connected accounts

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Account settings, and scroll to Connected accounts.

Click Connect

Click Connect next to Google Drive. You are taken to Google.

Agree at Google

Sign in with your Google account and confirm the access. Keep the file access ticked, otherwise Custodos cannot import anything.

Check the connection

Back in Custodos, Google Drive shows Connected and the connected Google account below it.

Using files in chat

Open the menu

Click + in the input field and choose Google Drive.

Pick files

Google's file dialog opens. Pick one or more files, for example the minutes of the last meeting with Bäckerei Mehlwerk GmbH, and confirm.

Check the attachments and ask

The files appear as attachments in the input field. The review panel shows detected personal data just as for any other file. Ask your question and send.

In chat you can attach Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text, Markdown and CSV files, as well as images (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF). An attached file stays available for the whole chat, as described in Attaching files and images.

The model searches your files

Once Google Drive is connected, the model can search for files and read them itself when your question calls for it. Ask, for instance: "What did we agree with Bäckerei Mehlwerk GmbH about the 2027 budget?" During the reply you see Searching cloud files… and Reading a cloud file….

Only files you have picked in the file dialog before are found, whether in chat or when importing into a brain. If the model finds nothing, pick the file once through +.

Importing into a brain

Open a brain you are allowed to edit, click Add sources and choose Google Drive. The files you pick are imported and processed. Images cannot be imported this way.

Custodos checks imported files for changes regularly. Refresh from source lets you trigger it yourself. It depends on your connection: the refresh only succeeds while you are connected. More in Adding sources and Keeping a brain up to date.

Disconnecting

In your account settings, click Disconnect next to Google Drive. Custodos deletes the connection and revokes the access at Google. Files already attached and imported brain documents stay, but they are no longer refreshed from the source.

Limits: files up to 20 MB can be attached and imported. In chat, up to 5 files are attached per selection. When the model reads on its own, it reads at most 5 files and about 36,000 characters per reply, and long documents are cut off after 12,000 characters. For a long document, attach the file directly instead.
